The results of the American Standard Design Award (ASDA) 2026 National Level are officially in, showcasing the exceptional ability of Filipino students to solve one of the most pressing challenges in modern architecture: multi-generational living.
As our urban spaces become more compact, the demand for homes that can gracefully accommodate three generations under one roof has never been higher. We are thrilled to see Filipino students from top architecture and interior design programs showcasing such high-level innovation in the residential space.
This year’s theme challenged students to rethink the “Multi-Generational Bathroom,” focusing on creating a space that is inclusive, safe, and aesthetically pleasing for everyone, from toddlers to the elderly.
The ASDA 2026 National Winners represent the pinnacle of student design in the country. Patricia Danielle Malijan of De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde secured the top spot for the Philippines with her project titled “The Humble Home: Quiet Simplicity.” Rooted in the daily rituals of the Filipino family, her design prioritizes intuitive movement and spatial zoning to create a cohesive environment where different generations can share a space without sacrificing privacy or independence. By focusing on accessible storage and PWD-friendly layouts, the project uses American Standard’s ergonomic technology to transform a utility area into a balanced, inclusive sanctuary.
The excellence continued with Michael Jeve Diaz from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, who won 2nd Prize for his project “The Gate: Treasures of Life,” while Lisa Marie Osmeña of the University of San Carlos – Talamban Campus claimed 3rd Prize with her entry “HIMAYÁ: Modern Living, Rooted in Place.”
The journey doesn’t end here for our National 1st Prize Winner. Patricia Danielle Malijan will now move forward to represent the Philippines on the international stage, presenting her design concepts to the APAC Judging Panel for a chance to bring home the title of APAC Grand Prize Winner for ASDA 2026.
The stakes for the regional level are high, offering the winner a significant career-launching grand prize of USD 3,000. Aside from the monetary award, ASDA will impart something truly priceless by offering a design masterclass led by renowned global industry experts.
The ASDA serves as a critical bridge between academic theory and professional reality, having been established specifically to cultivate the next generation of designers who can move beyond aesthetics toward functional, empathic solutions.
