IKEA Pasay City Crowned Global ‘Store of the Year 2025’

In a historic achievement for the Philippine retail industry, IKEA Pasay City has been named the IKEA Store of the Year 2025, besting over 470 stores across 63 countries. The recognition, which executives have likened to winning “Miss Universe” for the brand, marks a major milestone for the branch, which is currently the largest IKEA store in the world.

A Celebration of Filipino Excellence

The victory was celebrated with a “blue carpet” event at the store’s top floor. The occasion featured a Hall of Fame tribute dedicated to the store’s co-workers and a Champion’s Walk gallery honoring world-class Filipinos who have made their mark globally.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey, Olympic gold medalistHidilyn Diaz, and Michelin-starred Chef Josh Boutwood, who prepared special dishes for the event. Iconic rock star Bamboo also performed a set of his greatest hits for the attendees.

Driving Global Sales and Performance

Despite being only four years old, IKEA Pasay has demonstrated exceptional retail discipline, racking up impressive key performance highlights that contributed to its recent win. By the end of 2025, the Pasay branch officially became a global sales leader, selling more home furnishing pieces than any other IKEA store in the world.

This massive volume is driven by a remarkably high transaction rate, with the store averaging nearly 17 articles sold per individual transaction, a direct result of their refined add-on sales approach across both the showroom and the Market Hall. Anchoring these incredible sales metrics is a steady surge in customer traffic, with the store recording approximately 17 million visits during the 2023–2024 period alone.

Rooted in Culture and Sustainability

Store Manager Daniel Rivero emphasized that the award is a reflection of the team’s “togetherness” and their ability to adapt the Swedish brand to the Filipino lifestyle. As a reward for their dedication, 12 co-workers have been selected to travel to IKEA’s birthplace in Älmhult, Sweden, for an immersive learning journey.

The store has also made significant strides in its sustainability journey. In the past year, it sold over 1 million sustainable home furnishing items. Its partnership with the social enterprise Rags2Riches (R2R) has upcycled 4,000 kilograms of scrap fabrics, generating ₱7 million in revenue that directly impacts 250 local families.

What’s Next: Price Cuts and Expansion

Following the global win, IKEA Philippines has vowed to cut prices to remain accessible to more customers. The company is also looking toward future expansion, with plans likely hinging on the growth of the Philippine middle class and the country’s potential upgrade to upper middle-income status.

To share the victory with the public, IKEA Pasay is running a “Winning Offer” promo from May 14 to 31, 2026, offering exclusive discounts on furniture, decor, and select meals at the Swedish Restaurant and Bistro.
