Enter a space where design isn’t shouted but quietly admired: the first Miratap showroom has officially arrived in the Philippines. In an exclusive preview, Dexterton Corp. unveiled the first Miratap showroom, bringing the soul of Japanese minimalist design to the country. Beyond a simple showcase of fixtures, the space itself is a testament to the power of collaboration, thoughtfully designed by the acclaimed duo Rita Nazareno and Gabby Lichauco of Nazareno/Lichauco.
The showroom isn’t just a space—it’s an experience. The design seamlessly blends Miratap’s signature bath and kitchen systems with curated furniture pieces from Nazareno/Lichauco, E. Murio, and Ishinomaki Laboratory pieces by Lamana Furniture. The showroom’s refined aesthetic is further enhanced by tiles, wall panels, bricks, and stone composites from Surface Artistry, which provide a perfect backdrop, creating a truly immersive and cohesive environment that tells a complete design story.

A Legacy of Design: From Sanwa to Miratap
The brand’s story is one of consistent evolution and innovation. Founded in Osaka, Japan in 1979, the company began as an importer of building materials. After a little over 2 decades since its inception, during the year 2000, it released its first original system kitchen, setting the stage for its in-house design team and minimalist philosophy.
For decades, the company built its reputation under the name Sanwa, earning a high international reputation for its sophisticated products and garnering numerous design awards. In 2018, the company made history by becoming the first Asian brand to win the prestigious Salone del Mobile. Milano Award, a testament to its globally recognized design excellence. This pivotal moment, along with its exhibitions at EuroCucina in 2016 and 2018, provided the trigger for expanding its overseas business. In 2024, the company officially rebranded from Sanwacompany ltd. to Miratap inc., marking a new chapter in its enduring legacy of beautiful and functional design.

The Perfect Fit: A Story of Instinct and Intent
For Dexterton, the partnership with Miratap was driven by a shared philosophy. According to Ms. Audrey Go, President of Dexterton Corp., it was a natural choice.
“From the very first time I encountered Miratap’s products, I had this instinctive feeling that they belonged in Dexterton’s story,” Ms. Go shares. “They carried the kind of quiet strength and originality I’ve been looking for in a partner brand.”
Miratap’s design isn’t about following trends; it’s about setting a tone. Its minimalist philosophy is not stark or cold but, as Ms. Go describes it, “soulful.” This approach is seen in every detail, from its award-winning bath and kitchen systems that have been recognized by prestigious iF Design Awards and Red Dot Design Awards. These are not just accolades, but a global benchmark for design excellence that speak volumes about the brand’s quality and innovative spirit. This thoughtful design is a significant reason Miratap stands out. It isn’t trying to be everything to everyone; instead, it promises to bring something new and meaningful to the market, which is a rare kind of originality.

From Discerning Designers to Homeowners with Vision
Miratap is set to appeal to a specific audience in the Philippines. Ms. Go believes it speaks strongly to a community of architects, interior designers, and tastemakers who are looking for pieces that are original and uncompromising in quality.
“But I also believe today’s homeowners, especially the younger ones, are becoming more discerning,” she adds. “They want spaces that feel intentional and elevated… Miratap taps into that mindset—it’s for anyone who values design as not just functional, but as a way of life.”
The brand’s philosophy of balance, restraint, and harmony is deeply resonant in a fast-paced world, offering a sense of calm and refinement. It’s a style that Filipino homeowners are increasingly drawn to, appreciating how Miratap pieces bring a quiet elegance while remaining practical for everyday living. In a world that can often feel chaotic, the serenity and order that Miratap brings to a space are not just a design choice—they are a response to a modern need for peace and harmony.
